No, Writing Isn’t Easy

And yes, half of the advice on the internet sucks

I remember last year November. I found out what Medium was and searched up how much money you could make from it.

However, Google being Google showed me that Medium writers can make $10k a month.

So, I was like ‘bet. Why not?’

Published my first article. Hyped as hell. I was excited to see ‘99+’ on my notifications when I woke up. Guess what I found?

Nothing. No one read any of my stuff. I posted another article.

Well, maybe it’s because I’m new. I thought surely this one would get views. Nah. It didn’t. So, I called it quits.

I started blogging again in July, this time with a better start. And, even though I have 25 followers only, there is quite a lot I’ve learnt.

This is the main advice:

You Don’t Need to Post Daily

You know those articles that tell you to post every day, and that it’s so-called ‘discipline.’

Well, I’m here to prove that wrong. You don’t need to post every day.

However, another piece of advice that I think is ineffective is that quality beats quantity. Yeah, that’s true.

But when you’re starting out, you want to expand your reach.

The best thing you should do is post more.

So, what is the sweet spot for posting if you’re new to writing?

I’d say an article every 2 days. Gives you enough time to make somewhat quality articles while not burning yourself out.

Add a few short articles here and there as well, as they are easy to make, valuable and far more effective for read time.

If someone sees a 2 minute article, they’ll think “why not read it?”

If someone sees a 7 minute article, they’re not going to want the entire thing. We have short attention spans.

So, Why Have I Gotten You Here?

I just want to say that whenever you find a piece of writing advice online, it doesn’t necessarily mean it suits you.

What might work for someone else might not work for you. If someone posts daily doesn’t mean you need to and vice versa.

So, yeah. Just keep that in mind. Anyways, thanks for reading.
