Why Working “Smarter” Won’t Make You Better

Most of the time

Some time in the late 1900s, some crazy man decides that talent doesn’t come from genetics, but from hard work.

People thought he was idiotic, so he sent a letter to this random woman asking to marry her and get children. This will be important later.

Reluctantly, she said ‘yes’ (because somehow that’s how it works.)

Well, anyways, they gave birth to three children. They all taught chess to them extensively.

What happened after years of hard work? Well, I’ll just let you see for yourself:

  • Susan Polgar — At the age of 12, she became a world champion for girls under 16. In 1991, she became the first woman to reach Grandmaster. And by the end of it all, she won the world championship four fucking times.

  • Sofia Polgar — She stunned the world by winning eight games in a row against the world’s best grandmaster.

  • Judit Polgar — At the time, she became the world’s youngest Grandmaster.

So, why do I have you here?

All I’m saying is that working smarter, and all these people telling you to work smarter and they got to their position by being smarter had thousands of hours of hard work.

Don’t think that just working smarter is going to get you places.

You also gotta work harder.
